An accomplished construction engineer with over nine years of experience in project management, Verónica is a recognized bamboo advocate in Costa Rica and throughout Latin America.
She is a certified trainer in sustainable bamboo management by the International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR) and an active member of the National Bamboo Network, as well as a partner of the Bamboo UNA program. Verónica served as president of the Bamboo Development Foundation of Costa Rica, leading initiatives to incorporate bamboo into national regulations and driving research and development of technical standards for its use.
Her expertise spans comprehensive project management, technical training, network coordination, and the promotion of sustainable value chains with social and environmental impact.
Verónica has strengthened her leadership through international programs such as the U.S. Department of State’s Community Solutions Program and has expanded her network by participating in international events including the 2024 American Bamboo Society Conference, the 2021 Italian Bamboo Symposium, and the Second International Young Scientist Forum: Bamboo Resources in a Changing Climate, among others. She also collaborates in university training programs and provides guidance and consulting for research projects, further consolidating her influence and contribution in the region.
